Organizers of the annual Coal Grove Family Fun Days have announced the activities lineup for this year’s event.

Fun Days will be July 1-3 at Paul Porter Park. It is sponsored by the village of Coal Grove and the Coal Grove Betterment Club. The grand finale event will be a fireworks display at 10 p.m. July 3.

There will be free, live entertainment starting at 4 p.m. each day as well as inflatables available for the kids’ enjoyment.

Some of the favorite events from previous years are included in this year’s lineup. A cake and pie auction will be 6 p.m. July 3 with Dan Fulks as auctioneer. Betterment Club secretary treasurer Carol Gool said this event is a crowd favorite.

“This is a big moneymaker for our club. Last year my mother’s apple pie went for $155 and my blackberry pie went for $150. Of course, we get the politicians involved,” Gool said.

There will also be a Chinese auction throughout the three-day event. One hundred fifty theme gift baskets have been contributed and will be auctioned off.

Also on July 3, Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital will have a health fair.

The grand finale event will be a fireworks display at 10 p.m. July 3. Gool said this year, the fireworkers will be set off at three locations instead of just one, adding to the excitement.

Gool said this year’s event will also give area residents a chance to see some improvements made to the park. Jae Roush has made some repairs to steps and other properties and volunteers Vickie McDaniel and Juanita Markel have planted flowers.

“It’s beautiful,” Gool said. “They’re such hard workers.”
