COLUMBUS — There are some changes to this year’s Ohio High School Football Coaches’ All-Star Classic, but the game remains the highlight.

And enjoying the highlight of his high school career will be Coal Grove Hornets senior lineman Dustin Harmon.

Harmon will step into the spotlight Saturday when the North/South All-Star Classic shifts from Crew Stadium to Ohio Stadium on the campus of Ohio State.

Kickoff has also changed to 4 p.m. from its traditional 7 p.m. start. Tickets are $5 at the gate.

Harmon, a 6-foot-4, 275-pound lineman, is scheduled to play defense, but he played both ways for the Hornets and could see action on either side of the ball.

“It doesn’t really matter. I can play both sides of the ball,” said Harmon.

“It will be a lot more competitive than playing in the (Ohio Valley Conference). Everyone is a lot bigger. There will be a lot of players going to Ohio State and other (Division I) schools. It’s exciting.”

Harmon, an all-district and All-Ohio selection last season, has signed to play at Pikeville (Ky.) College.

Also representing the area will be South Point head coach Doug Shilot who has been selected as one of five assistant coaches. Tim Brown of Groveport will be the head coach.

The South team is led offensively quarterback Jeremy Ebert (6-foot, 180) of Hilliard Darby who has signed as a wide receiver with Northwestern.

Also heading up the South will be tight end Kenny Anunike (6-5, 235) of Olentangy who is headed to Duke, and wide receiver Zack Kauth (6-5,190) of Dayton Chaminade-Julienne who will play at Air Force.

On the offensive line will be Hamilton’s Phillip Manley (6-4, 305) who signed with Toledo, Bowling Green recruit Tim German (6-7, 290) of Licking Valley, and Evan Davis (6-4, 260) of Cincinnati Colerain who will play at the University of Cincinnati.

LaSalle linebacker J.K. Schaffer (6-1, 215) has also opted to stay home and play for the Bearcats.

Top players for the North include Mentor’s Kevin Harper (5-11, 175) who signed with Pittsburgh, Mentor Lake Catholic’s Joe Gaglione (6-5, 230) who inked with Iowa, Virginia recruit Steve Greer (6-2, 218) of Solon, and Walsh Jesuit’s Andrew Illig (6-3, 275) who will play at Miami, OH.

The Ohio Football Coaches’ All-Star Classic is the longest running all-star game in the United States since its inception in 1945. Proceeds from the game fund the coaches association’s scholarship fund.
