WILLOW WOOD — For the month of October, the Lawrence Soil and Water Conservation District is accepting the above items to be recycled for breast cancer awareness.

The money collected from recycling the newspaper, junk mail, computer paper, magazines, cardboard, soup/food cans, steel, scrap metals, and aluminum cans will be donated to the Pink Ribbon Fund at St. Mary’s Medical Center. The fund helps to pay for mammograms for uninsured and underinsured patients.

“From the conservation side of things, it is important to recycle as much as we possibly can to help reduce the amount of trash going to our landfills.

“By collecting these items for this month (October is breast cancer awareness month) and taking them to the recycling facility, we felt the money received from recycling these items should go to a worthy cause,” said Carrie Yaniko, Urban/Education Specialist for the Lawrence Soil and Water Conservation District.

“Please encourage your friends, families and the places you do business with to participate in this worthy cause. Items can be brought to the Soil and Water Office at 5459 State Route 217, Willow Wood, Ohio, 45696 or if you need assistance getting your items donated, please call the office, or any of the Board Members, and we’ll make arrangements to get those items collected.

If you know of a business/organization/group that is interested in participating, please call us and we will make arrangements to collect the materials from them also.”
