CHESAPEAKE — The case against the 18-year-old who faces three felony charges after a recent incident in the South Point Wal-Mart will go to the grand jury.

That action came in Lawrence County Municipal Court Monday morning during a pre trial hearing for Darren Sharpe of South Point.

Sharpe was arrested by Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies April 7 in the Wal-Mart after store employees locked him in a ladies restroom.

Store personnel believed he was the man who on Sunday evening had accosted a woman in the restroom.

That man who was wielding a knife had threatened the woman, according to the sheriff’s office.

The woman was released unharmed. However, a restraining order was recently issued prohibiting Sharpe from coming in contact with the woman.

There is no known relationship between the victim and Sharpe.

The South Point man faces felony charges of attempted rape, kidnapping and felonious assault. He also has been charged with resisting arrest.

Sharpe remains in the Lawrence County jail under a half-million bond. Mike Gleichauf is his court-appointed attorney.
