Schlegel leads Lady Dragons to win

PROCTORVILLE — On senior night, it was only fitting a senior came through with a big game.

Beth Schlegel, Fairland’s only senior, scored a career-high 17 points as the Lady Dragons routed the Ohio Valley Christian Lady Defenders 55-16 Monday.

Brianna Day scored 16 points and MacKenzie Rucker added 11 points for Fairland (8-11).

Andrea Van Meter scored 11 points for OVC.

Rucker drilled a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points as Fairland took a 22-2 first quarter lead. Jordan Fulks and Schlegel also hit 3-pointers.

Day got six points in the second quarter to make it 33-6 at the half.

The lead was 39-10 after three quarters and Schlegel had 10 points in the fourth quarter. Van Meter scored all six of OVC’s points.

CHESAPEAKE — The New Boston Lady Tigers placed three players in double figures as they beat the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 55-32 Monday.

Kayla Wiley scored 16 points for New Boston (16-2). Katie Williams and Tasha Buckley scored 12 each.

Kimmie Bennett scored 10 for Chesapeake (11-7).

New Boston led 19-7 at the end of the first quarter and 28-16 at the half.

Chesapeake trailed 41-28 after three quarters but could only manage four points in the fourth quarter.
