Lady Tigers to host benefit for cancer

If this benefit goes really well, the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers volleyball team will be tickled pink.

And dressed the same.

Ironton will host a volleyball benefit to help raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation in an effort to increase awareness of breast cancer among students, staff, and the community.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association is working with Ohio high school volleyball teams to participate and conduct a fundraiser event.

Raffles for prizes such as $100 gift certificate, a 3-month membership to the YMCA, gasoline cards, local restaurant gift cards, and other items will be held before, during, and after the matches.

T-shirts lettered with “Volley for the Cure-800 teams vs. Breast Cancer” are being sold. Sizes small through X-Large are $5, 2XL are $6, and 3XL are $8.

Anyone interested in purchasing a T-shirts should contact Beth Campbell, Mike Freeman, or Kim Wileman.

Entertainment will be provided by the Ironton cheerleaders, flag corps, and majorettes.

Admission is $3 for adults and free to students wearing pink.
