LINNVILLE — The Lawrence Soil and Water Conservation District will have a series of five workshops for contractors, developers, engineers and township/village officials. The workshops focus on Phase II requirements for Lawrence County’s Storm Water Management Plan: soil erosion and sediment control standards, permitting – including local and state permits, site plan development, best management practices for construction sites and practices for long-term storm water management.

The workshops will be conducted throughout the months of July and August. Those who attend all five workshops will receive a certificate verifying completion of education for storm water management (Phase II) requirements. The workshops will be 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Southern Branch of Briggs Library at 317 Solida Road in South Point. The meeting times and topics are:

— Monday, July 9, 2007 – Workshop I: Introduction to storm water management. This workshop will focus on the local storm water management plan, soil erosion and sediment control standards and local development permits. Aaron Wolfe, Ohio E.P.A., will discuss the Ohio E.P.A.’s NPDES Phase II program and general construction permit requirements.

4July 16 – Workshop II: Site plan development.

This workshop will focus on the development of a site plan as required by the local permit.

4 July 23 - Workshop III: B.M.P.’s for construction activities. John Mathews, ODNR Division of Soil & Water Conservation, will discuss the rainwater and land development manual along with best management practices that can be used on construction sites.

4August 13 - Workshop IV: Long-term stormwater runoff management. Jay Dorsey, ODNR Division of Soil & Water Conservation, will discuss the rainwater and land development manual along with long term best management practices that can be used on completed construction sites.

4August 20,- Workshop V: Maintenance. This workshop will focus on the disposal of construction debris, post-construction activities, and maintenance of construction equipment.
