COLUMBUS — Having faith in Jalynn Bradburn’s ability to win a high jump competition doesn’t require a leap of faith.

Just her leaping.

An eighth grade student at South Point Middle School, Bradburn participated in the independent middle school state track meet in Columbus on Saturday and met with results as lofty as her jumps.

Bradburn not only won the Divisions II-III high jump competition, but her leap of 5-feet, 3-inches set a meet record. The old mark was 5-1 by Jordan Moxley of Cortland.

A self-taught high jumper, Bradburn finished ahead of Tiffany Underwood who cleared 5-2.

The win came in a field of 30 girls from across Ohio. The best jump in Division I was 5-5 which placed Bradburn third overall.

Although Bradburn cleared 5-3, her best jump this past season was 5-6 as she set a new Ohio Valley Conference Middle School meet record.
