PEDRO — It was D-Day for the Rock Hill Redwomen.

“D” as in defense.

The Redwomen used a solid defense all day as they didn’t make an error en route to a 4-0 win over the Gallipolis Blue Angels Thursday.

“Our defense was the big key. We had to move some people around after Brooke Long chipped a bone in her foot,” Redwomen coach Mary Harper said. “We did well. I was proud of them. You couldn’t ask for any more.”

The defense backed the pitching of Bobbi Harper who tossed a five-hitter. She struck out six and did not walk a batter.

Bobbi Harper slammed a solo home run with two outs in the first inning to stake Rock Hill to a 1-0 lead.

The score remained that way until the sixth inning when Rock Hill scored three times.

Candice Chaffin singled with one out, Brooke Skinner singled, and a walk loaded the bases. Kayla Kelley, Elisha Daniels and Katrina Settle all followed with run-scoring singles.

Chaffin was 3-3 and Settle and Skinner 2-3 as Rock Hill banged out 11 hits.

Rock Hill plays at Ironton at 5 p.m. Friday.
