Three accused drug peddlers, two alleged purse snatchers and an alleged rapist were among those indicted Thursday by a Lawrence County grand jury.

According to information from the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, the grand jury returned a six-count indictment against Christopher Shy Carter, 27, of Columbus.

Carter, also known as Tony Lark, now faces two counts of trafficking in crack cocaine and one count each of possession of crack cocaine, tampering with evidence, falsification and possessing criminal tools.

His alleged cohort, Twanita T. Edwards, 28, also of Columbus, was indicted on two counts of complicity to trafficking in crack cocaine and one count each of complicity to possession of crack cocaine and failure to comply with the order and signal of a police officer. Both Carter and Edwards were arrested Monday night in South Point by members of the Lawrence County Drug and Major Crimes Task Force.

At the time of the arrest, authorities allegedly confiscated 110 grams of crack cocaine, which has a street value of more than $10,000, and $1,000 cash. The pair were also under investigation for drug activity in Cabell County, W.Va.

Also indicted on drug charges was Jason P. Belcher, 19, of 22022 State Route 243, Proctorville. Belcher now faces one count each of possession of crack cocaine and possession of powder cocaine.

Others indicted were:

4William Rigsby, 41, of 717 Township Road 184 W, Pedro, one count of rape.

4Amanda Cassidy, 32, of Kenova, W.Va., theft. She is accused of taking a purse from a shopper at the Wal-Mart Super Center in Burlington.

4Dustin Sutter, 28, of 246 Private Drive 349, Pedro, two counts of theft. He is accused of taking purses belongings to employees of a health care center in Chesapeake.

4William Trent Spaulding, 20, of 11123 County Road 1, Chesapeake, two counts of receiving stolen property and one count each of aggravated menacing and theft.

4David M. Jenkins, 31, of 143 Private Drive 268, South Point, theft.

4Tiffany L. Adkins, 24, of 804 S. 10th St., Ironton, failure to appear for court appearance.
