SUMMIT, Ky. — Three out of four ain’t bad, unless you’re playing basketball.

The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers again had trouble closing out a game as the Boyd County Lady Lions rallied in the fourth quarter for a 47-38 win.

“We can’t put four quarters together,” said Ironton coach Doug Graham. “We’re learning and we’re working hard. Eventually, we will turn the corner. I can’t fault our effort. We practice hard and we play hard.”

Boyd County (4-1) used a pair of 3-pointers by Logan Fraley to spark the fourth quarter comeback. The Lady Lions outscored Ironton 15-4 in the final quarter.

Ironton (1-5) took a 14-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and held a 26-21 lead at the break.

Boyd County continued to rally in the third quarter by outscoring Ironton 11-8 to trail 34-32. Alicia Murphy scored 6 of Ironton points in the quarter.

Despite the loss, Graham remained positive.

“A game like this will only help us,” said Graham.

Lexie Washington had 10 points and 5 rebounds for the Lady Tigers. Alicia Murphy had 9 points and 7 rebounds while Karlee McMackin and Ariel Schweickart had 7 rebounds each and Emily Davis had 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

Ironton hosts Oak Hill on Monday.
