Proctorville site ready to help you plan your big event

PROCTORVILLE — Whatever your pleasure, be it an intimate birthday party or a family reunion with all your long-lost relatives, Twin Creeks Farms can ensure a good time is had by all.

A relatively new business venture for Debbie, 60, and Doug Conley, 61, the 30-acre farm in Proctorville where the two resides has been the site of the couple’s party barn since August 2010.

Born out of a mutual love of music and entertaining, the converted horse barn was transformed into a party barn for a host of different events, including birthday parties, class and family reunions, meetings, luncheons and weddings and receptions.

“Our little slogan is, ‘the best kept secret in Lawrence County,’” said Debbie.

Twin Creeks Farms may still be a secret to some, but Debbie said the business has continued to grow over the last year and a half, mainly due to word of mouth.

“It’s been fun,” Debbie said of the business. “Most business has been referrals.”

The lower level of the party barn can accommodate about 120 people for a sit-down dinner, Debbie said. There is also a stage for musical acts, a DJ or karaoke. A full kitchen is available for food preparation, catering companies and buffet-style serving.

The upper portion of the barn has a pool table, karaoke machine, popcorn machine, booths for seating and a bar and lounge area. Alcohol is not served, but guests are welcome to bring their own, Debbie said.

On the outside of the facility, the farm offers catch and release fishing, horseshoes, cornhole and hayrides and bonfires, weather permitting.

Always looking for ways to improve the facility, Debbie said she has plans to expand the outdoor areas of the farm.

“The shelter is the thing I want most for next year,” she said. “Because I’ve had a lot of calls on just a picnic area.”

They are also adding a screened in porch and plan to add an outdoor stage for bands.

Debbie and Doug have also considered adding small cabins as lodging. Currently, the only lodging accommodations are camper hook-ups.

Located at 672 Township Rd. 88 about four and a half miles from the Proctorville Bypass, the farm is a private getaway without the long-distance drive.

“We’re out, but in.” Debbie said.
