COAL GROVE - Food, fellowship and even a chance to dunk the minister.

The third-annual Memorial Methodist Church fall festival and block party Saturday brought church members and people from the community together Saturday for an afternoon of activities.

"We start lining up the pies and cakes for the (baking) contest at nine o'clock and then we're busy throughout the day. But we have fun. People stop by. It's amazing how everyone pitches in," church member Linda McKnight said.

The purpose of the festival is to show the community the fun of Christian life, according to the church's pastor, the Rev. Steve Judson.

"It's a neat time for us, for the church and the community," Judson said. "And we've had three great years. Each year we add something and each year we get a little bit better at it."

New this year was an inflatable jumping arena for the children. Returning this year was a dunking booth that Judson said he would probably find himself in, taking a turn getting wet.

Games, a cake and pie baking contest, live music, a pig roast and a health fair organized by employees of Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital were also on tap.

Marcella Hammond, who also attends the church, said the festival is something she and others look forward to as autumn approaches.

"I enjoy everything about it, just everything," she said. "I'm here every year."
