A Proctorville woman will spend the next four years on community controlled sanctions after she pleaded no contest last Wednesday to two bills of information that alleged two separate incidents of misbehavior against Lawrence County Sheriff's Office personnel and property.

Diana White, 41, of 14029 State Route 7, was arrested in August at the Travelers Motel and charged with fourth-degree felony assault on a peace officer.

According to a sheriff's office report, White was involved in an incident at the motel and deputy Randy Rogers and Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper Michael Gore were dispatched to diffuse the situation. The report stated White was heavily intoxicated, continually spewed expletives and refused to return to her motel room as requested by the two officers.

When she was arrested, Rogers stated White tried to break free and kicked at his face and groin several times, threatened people and eventually had to be tazed to calm her down.

White also pleaded no contest to fifth-degree felony vandalism and second-degree misdemeanor resisting arrest stemming from an incident in April at the residence of her ex-husband.

In a report by deputy John Chapman, White was highly upset when she visited her ex-husband's residence, created a disturbance, threw a bottle of medication at a person at the residence, damaged a car parked at the residence, cursed Chapman and kicked a window in the cruiser when she was arrested and placed inside it.

The language White used during both incidents was detailed in the two incident reports filed by the sheriff's office, and while the reports were admitted into the court records as evidence, Assistant Lawrence County Prosecutor Charles Cooper hesitated to repeat it and McCown rebuked her for using it and for using alcohol while taking medication.

"It sounds to me like when you get on alcohol you go berserk," McCown said.

"But I wasn't drinking the first time," White protested.

"You mean you use that kind of language when you haven't been drinking?" McCown asked. "If you used that language in this courtroom you would go straight to jail."

White was also ordered to undergo substance abuse treatment.

Also last week, an Ironton man accused of assaulting a Lawrence County Sheriff's deputy and a Lawrence County Jail corrections officer at the jail in July was arraigned in Common Pleas Court.

Through his attorney, Mark McCown, Todd Terkhorn, 24, of 1747 Kevin St., entered a plea of not guilty. But McCown told Judge Richard Walton he reserved the right to later change that plea to not guilty by reason of insanity.

Terkhorn is in jail awaiting trial on arson and other charges stemming rom a fire at his residence in May.

Also Wednesday, a Chesapeake woman was arraigned on a single count of fifth-degree felony attempt to obtain a dangerous drug. Gillette Gottke, 44, of 421 County Road 3, entered a plea of not guilty through her attorney, David Reid Dillon. She was released on her own recognizance and a pretrial conference was scheduled for Sept. 21.
