Help for Animals, Inc. Spay/Neuter Mobile from Barboursville, W.Va., will be at Pick ‘N Save parking lot Aug. 26 to spay cats and small dogs.

Dogs cannot exceed 30 pounds due to cage and mobile space. Only 25 female animals will be spayed and the Lawrence County Humane Society will be paying the bill from memorials paid this year.

Memorials were made by Albert "Corky" Wise, Erie Gray, Helen Griffin and Emma Arundel.

To qualify for this assistance, a surgical form requiring information, signature and a $20 deposit is required. The deposit will be refunded when the animal is picked up.

Anyone interested in signing up for the surgical procedure call (740) 532-6624. The deadline to fill out applications is Saturday.

Humane society volunteer Alberta Wise said they are introducing this information hoping to control the pet population in Lawrence County.

Help for animals will be delighted to bring their mobile unit into this area once a week or once a month at a low cost fee, she said.

There will be a limit of one pet per family and the service will be offered to low income families.

This is an introductory offer to make the public aware that spaying at a low cost will help control the population of unwanted animals, Wise said.

If the mobile unit comes in again, the price schedule will be available to anyone who applies. Advanced payment is required with surgical form.

In the future, pricing will be cat neutering for $25; cat spaying for $40; and for dogs under 30 pounds, dog neuter, $45 and dog spay, $50.

Free rabies vaccinations will be provided with the surgery. Other vaccinations are available for a small fee.
