HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Sophomore quarterback Bernie Morris put his arm back to work and a special visit from a six-time pro bowler highlighted Marshall's two practices Monday.

After resting his arm for the last several practices, Morris threw the ball well in both the morning and afternoon practice sessions Monday at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

"He looked fresh," Marshall head coach Mark Snyder said of Morris. "It is good to have him back out there competing."

Overall, Snyder was generally pleased with Monday's workouts that once again were conducted in plus 90-degree heat. The afternoon practice did include a brief shower.

"We started slow, but we finished strong," Snyder said. "It was really hot out there and we got a lot of work done."

Six-time pro-bowler and Kansas City Chiefs safety Deron Cherry addressed the team following the afternoon session.

"Deron talked to the team about commitment, teamwork, perseverance and everything that it takes to be successful," Snyder said. "Those are the same characteristics that we are trying to instill into our team every day and I think it is good to bring in a successful individual like that with the same values to help reinforce that message to our players."

The Thundering Herd will practice again on Tuesday at 3:20 p.m. Marshall will also have practices on Wednesday at 9:05 a.m. and at 3:55 p.m. All three practices are open to the public. Fans are asked not to bring electronic recording devices or any video cameras to practices.

Wednesday afternoon's practice will feature a special units scrimmage.

"Wednesday is going to be a lot of fun," Snyder said. "We are splitting the team, the managers, and the coaches in a draft. Coach (Todd) Goebbel and coach (Shaine) Miles are serving as the head coaches and the team that loses has to run three (times) to the top of the stadium and back."
