An early morning shooting in the 800 block of South 10th Street has left one man dead and another charged with murder.

Ironton police say Damon Pringle, 31, of 807 S. Eighth St., was shot “numerous times” in the chest and back. He was taken to Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky., where he was pronounced dead.

Isaiah Sudderth, 25, of Columbus, was arrested by Scioto County authorities near the Lawrence-Scioto county line and was taken to the Lawrence County Jail. He is charged with murder and driving while intoxicated. He is scheduled for arraignment this afternoon in Ironton Municipal Court.

At 1:28 a.m., a man called Ironton police and said shots had been fired in the area. Witnesses told authorities there had been a disagreement between the two men.

“The two got into an argument in the kitchen of the apartment they were in and the suspect produced a gun and fired several shots,” Capt. Chris Bowman said. He declined to say what the two men were arguing about.

A short time later, a white Ford Explorer that was reportedly observed at the scene of the shooting was stopped on U.S. 52. Sudderth was taken into custody at that time.
