Redmen beat up on Raiders in OVC, 13-3

PEDRO - It was like the big brother who spots his younger brother some points, then storms back to crush him.

The Rock Hill Redmen proved to be a tough big brother as they pounded the River Valley Raiders 13-3 Tuesday.

"Our guys don't get down. They keep their heads up and keep battling," Redmen coach Barry Litteral said.

After River Valley took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Rock Hill got a run in the bottom of the frame.

Matt Wilson singled with one out, moved to third after a pair of passed balls, and came home on a hit by Josh Moore.

The Redmen got within 3-2 in the second inning on a triple by T.J. Blagg and Mark Anderson's ground out.

Rock Hill got four runs in the third inning to lead 6-3.

Christian led off with a base hit, stole second and came home when Justin Lavender doubled. Moore singled, Nathan Wagner was safe on a fielder's choice, and Williams doubled in two runs. Following a walk to Blagg, two passed balls allowed the runners to score.

Rock Hill erupted for six runs in the fourth inning to put the game away at 12-3.

Christian started the uprising with another walked, stole second, took third on a passed ball and scored on Matt Wilson's base hit. Wilson stole second and Moore had an RBI double. Wagner followed with an RBI double, Williams singled home a run, and Blagg doubled in the final run.

The Redmen got their final run in the sixth inning. Wagner was safe on a missed third strike and scored on a hit by Mark Anderson.

Rock Hill, 10-5 and 5-4 in OVC, visits Fairland Thursday.
