PEDRO - New or old, the Fairland Dragons can win on any field.

The Dragons spoiled the opening of Rock Hill's new baseball field Wednesday with a 9-0 win over the Redmen in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Fairland had 12 hits to back the combined pitching of Michael Hill and Chris Barnett. Hill struck out 11 in five innings, walked one and allowed just two hits. Barnett gave up two hits, struck out one and walked one.

Hill hit his sixth home run of the season and went 2-for-2 to spark the offense. Todd Maynard was 3-4, Cory McKnight 2-3 and Adam Fuller 2-4 with two doubles.

"We did a lot of good things," Fairland coach Roger Snyder said. "Hill and Barnett threw the ball well. Rock Hill is a good hitting team. And we were able to score some runs. That was a good win for us."

Fairland remains unbeaten in eight games and is 5-0 in the OVC. Rock Hill dips to 4-3 and 2-3 in the league.

The Dragons jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

Maynard singled and Hill hit a one-out two-run homer. Josh Moore was hit by a pitch and scored on a double by Adam Fuller.

Fairland got a run in the third inning when Hill walked, Cory McKnight was hit by a pitch and Fuller hit his second double.

The Dragons got three more runs in the fourth inning.

Barnett singled, Nolan Love was hit by a pitch and Maynard had an RBI single. Maynard stole second and both runners scored when Hill doubled.

In the fifth, McKnight and Corey Blankenship doubled for a run and it was 8-0.

In the sixth inning, Hill walked, stole second and scored on McKnight's base hit.
