Richard Moore

Jan. 10, 1951 — March 13, 2012

Richard Lee Moore, 61, of Eden, N.C., formerly of Ironton, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden.

Mr. Moore was born in Louisa, Ky., on Jan. 10, 1951, a son of Richard Oney and the late Susan White Oney. He was a 1971 graduate of Ironton High School. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran with eight years active duty and 12 years in the naval reserve. He was retired from the Department of Defense. He was very athletic and loved all sports. He played for the Oceana Naval Base Basketball team.

He is survived by his daughter, Kristi Moore and granddaughter, Brandalyn Hodges of Eden; his sons, Eric Moore and Nicholas Moore, both of Eden; his special friend, Virginia Dishmon Moore of Eden; his father, Richard Oney of Ironton; his siblings, Pauline Dickerson of Ashland, Ky., Ruby and Tony Kerns of Hanging Rock, Peggy Ison, Jane and Jimmy Blankenship and Tommy Moore, all of Ironton, Betty and Bud Browning of Wayne W.Va., and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Oney, his sisters, Nancy Conn and Lily Mae Gee, and his brother, Junior Moore.

The funeral service was Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Boone & Cooke, Inc. Funeral Home. Interment followed in Dan View Cemetery.

Joel Baisden, Sr.

Nov. 24, 1934 — March 22, 2012

On March 22, 2012, Joel Baisden, Sr., was called to be with the Lord. His family invites you to come and celebrate his life with them.

Joel graduated from Chapmanville High School in West Virginia in 1955. He was retired from CSX Railroad and was a member of the Church of Christ. He liked to fish, garden, and go pickin’ at the local flea markets. Joel was 77 and was born Nov. 24, 1934, a son of the late Gardner and Eva Ellis Baisden and he resided in South Point.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brookie Lee Baisden; two brothers, Jack and Ira Baisden; and one sister, Betty Miller.

Joel is survived by his two sons, Joel Dee Baisden, Jr., and Ferlin Ray Baisden; his daughter, Robin Layne; seven grandchildren; two great grandsons; two brothers, Jimmy and Freddie Baisden; and three sisters, Maxine Henderson, Janet Albright, and Patsy Green. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Virginia Sullivan

Virginia Lee Sullivan, 86, of Ashland, Ky., died Friday, March 23, 2012, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland, by Brian Steele. Entombment will be in Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation is noon until service time. Dolly Middleton

Jan. 4, 1932 — March 22, 2012

Dolly Delores Hyland Middleton age 80 died on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Edgewood Manor of Lucasville. She was born in Bluefield, W.Va., on Jan. 4, 1932, to the late Kenneth and Lina Gilbert McClelland.

She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Lee Foster of Bolivar; one son, David Hyland of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Brain Foster, Christopher Foster, Heather Foster and Dallas Foster; and eight great grandchildren. She attended Central Christian Church. O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.

 

Gordon White

Gordon Mason White, 88, of Flatwoods Ky., died Friday, March 23, 2012, at Community Hospice Care Center of Ashland, Ky. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Carman Funeral Home, Flatwoods, with Pastor Keith Menshouse. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods with military honors by VFW Post 8850 of Ironton. Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Dewey Patton

Dewey Patton, 86, of Russell, Ky., died at home on Friday, March 23, 2012.

Funeral services will be at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
