Lady Fighting Tigers open with 9-7 softball win over Raceland

RACELAND, Ky. — It’s off to a good start for the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings and went on to beat the Raceland Lady Rams 9-7 on Saturday to open the softball season.

Rebekkah Potter got the win with 3.2 innings of relief work. She came on during a four-run Raceland fourth inning to retire the side and finished the game.

Ironton had eight hits with Karlie McMackin and Lakin White each going 2-3. Cassey Carmon was 1-2 while Emily Davis, Saige Fields and Potter were 1-3.

Ironton hosts Chesapeake at 5 p.m. Monday.
