Two tough games ended in two tough losses.

The Rock Hill Redmen suffered back-to-back one-run defeats as they fell 3-1 to the Greenup County Musketeers on Wednesday and 8-7 to the Waverly Tigers on Thursday.

Jared Bruce pitched well in defeat against Greenup. Bruce allowed just four hits.

“Jared pitched well. He made them put it in play and we made the plays behind him,” said Redmen coach Barry Litteral. “We just didn’t get the hits.”

Rock Hill went up 1-0 in the first inning on a double by Drew Kidd and a single by Johnathan Schob.

Greenup (4-2) took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on a walk, a hit batsman, a double steal and a two-run single by Will McCall.

The Musketeers added a run in the sixth when Jacob Cook walked, stole second, moved up on a sacrifice and scored on a wild pitch.

Kidd went 2-2 with a double for the Redmen.

Waverly (2-2) used a six-run second inning to key their win. The Tigers scored six runs on just two hits, four walks and an error.

After Waverly got a run in the first, Rock Hill took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning.

Schob singled, Jack Goodwin doubled and Evan Morris had a two-run single.

The Redmen cut the deficit to 7-5 in the third inning on singled by Ryan Depriest and Kidd, a two-base error and another error.

Schob singled and scored on Goodwin’s double to get within 7-6, but Waverly got a run in the bottom of the inning.

Rock Hill’s final run scored in the sixth on a double by Jonah Cox and Laden Delawder’s base hit.

Goodwin went 3-4 with three doubles as Rock Hill had 11 hits. Cox was 2-3 with tow doubles and Schob 2-4.

Rock Hill visits River Valley on Monday.
