PEDRO — If you put the ball in play, you have a chance. The Rock Hill Redwomen gave themselves a lot of chances.

Rock Hill banged out 12 hits and blanked the South Point Lady Pointers 10-0 in five innings on Friday to win the Ohio Valley Conference title outright.

“We’ve only struck out once in the last two games. We’re hitting the ball well,” said Rock Hill coach Mary Jane Harper.

Kenzi Martin led the 12-hit attack by going 4-4. BreeAnna Depriest was 2-3 and Kaelynn Ellis was 2-4.

The Redwomen are pitching well, too. Sami Nixon gave up five hits, struck out eight and did not walk a batter.

The game was scoreless until Rock Hill got four runs in the third inning.

Morgan Damron and Depriest singled and Chelsea Harper reached on an error for a run. Brooke Hanshaw hit into a fielder’s choice to drive in a run and Morgan Schug doubled home two more.

Brooke Eastham doubled to start a two-run fourth. Depriest was safe on an error as courtesy runner Brooke Kingery scored and Hanshaw reached on an error scoring Depriest.

Rock Hill (15-5, 9-1) ended the game with four runs in the fifth.

Depriest walked, Harper was safe on an error, Schug walked and Martin had a two-run singled. Ellis singled in a run and Lindy Simpson doubled home the final run.

Abbey Winkler was 2-3 for South Point.
