Lela Kerns

Lela Kerns, 84, of Ironton, passed away May 30, 2012, at Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility, Ashland, Ky. She was born Feb. 22, 1928, to the late Emory and Othell (Henry) Addis. She was a loving housewife and a member of Jeffersonville Missionary Baptist Church, Coal Grove.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Philip “Sam” Kerns; two sons, David Kerns and Mike Kerns; one brother; and seven sisters.

She is survived by three sons, Ron (Janet) Kerns of Ironton, Doug (Jamie) Kerns of Ironton and Gary (Rita) Kerns of Clearwater, Fla.; four daughters, Connie (Don) Davis of Ironton, Brenda (Randy) McKee of Lantana, Texas, Rebecca Gannon of Ironton and Shawn Roberts of Ironton; one daughter-in-law, Sue Kerns of Ironton; one brother and sister-in-law, Bob (Evelyn) Addis of South Point; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Knipp officiating. Interment will follow in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery. Marion Pizelli

Marion Gardner (Ron) Pizelli, 69, of Ironton, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley in Ironton. He was born Oct. 14, 1942, a son of the late Mary K. Hicks. Ron was a Navy veteran and a painter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena Pizelli.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Elswick Brooks and her husband John; three sons, Darren Elswick and his wife Eloise, Kodi Pizelli and Shannon Elswick, all of Ironton; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Sunday at the Brown Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Schugg officiating. Burial will follow where he will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Hecla Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the chapel. Friends and family may share memories and condolences on the Facebook page of Brown Funeral Chapel. The family has entrusted his care to Brown Funeral Chapel.

 

Ernestine Hunley

Ernestine Hunley, 79, of Coal Grove, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at her residence. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.

 

Harry Marcum

Harry Marcum, 61, of South Point, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the VA Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. He was the husband of Jo Ann Maynard Marcum, who survives. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point is in charge of arrangements which are incomplete.
