HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall basketball coach Tom Herrion will be paid $394,000 annually under the terms of his new five-year contract.
The school didn’t release details of Herrion’s contract when he was introduced Saturday as the replacement for Donnie Jones, who left last month for Central Florida. The Associated Press obtained the contract Monday under a Freedom of Information Act request.
Herrion’s base salary is $226,000. He’ll also be paid $90,300 for weekly television and radio shows and $70,000 for appearances on behalf of Marshall’s athletic fundraising arm.
Included in the deal are a country club membership and a $1,500 stipend for cell phone use.
The 42-year-old Herrion spent the past three seasons on Jamie Dixon’s staff at Pittsburgh before taking over the Thundering Herd.
