In conjunction with the Proctorville widening project, crews from TAB Construction resumed operations this week.

The contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation suspended operations during the week of July 7 for Lawrence County Fair. Weather permitting, the contractors will be constructing

temporary pavement and embankment within the project zone between state routes 607 and 243. Crews are expected to be working during daylight hours and traffic will be maintained in one lane with the aid of flaggers.

However, motorists are advised of traffic delays, especially during peak travel times and between Irene Road East and State Route 243.

The $4.46 million widening project includes the addition of a center, left-turn lane and the installation of a new storm system, curb, gutter, sidewalk and traffic control devices for the widening of 1.33 miles of State Route 7.

Also, a paving project is under way on State Route 217 in Lawrence County, and in the upcoming week, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 will be applying a surface course, berming and striping to the route.

Crews from the Shelly Company of Thornville are resurfacing 4.67 miles of the route, between County Road 2 (Greasy Ridge Road) at Dobbstown and State Route 775 near Scottown. While crews are working in the project area, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the aid of flaggers.

The Shelly Company was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $306,282 to complete the two-lane resurfacing project. Although this project is scheduled to be completed by October 31, work should be completed by late July or early August.
