Dorathy Burd Wiseman

Dorathy Burd Wiseman, 93, of Ironton, passed Monday, July 9, 2012, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Proctorville, Ohio native was born Sept. 29, 1918, the daughter of the late Raymond and Anna Harth Burd.

Mrs. Wiseman was a homemaker and attended Palestine Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death (in addition to her parents) by husband, James Howard Wiseman who passed away January 21, 1973; three brothers, Harold, Darwin and Oliver Burd; two sons-in-law: John Boggess and Darrell Shafer.

She is survived by daughter, Wilma Boggess of Ironton; daughter and son in law, LaRay and Alva Hieronimus of Watertown, Tenn.; son and daughter in law, James and Sandra Wiseman of South Point; daughter, Ruth Shafer of Ironton; son and daughter in law, Clarence and Cheryl Wiseman of South Point; daughter and son in law, Sue and John Fetters of Minford; daughter and son in law, Carlene and Arthur Shively of Winston Salam, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street, Ironton, Ohio with Rev. David Ritchie and Pastor Roger Colegrove officiating. Burial will follow in Wilgus Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Julia Ann Butcher (Ward)

Julia Ann Butcher (Ward), 69, of South Point, went to be with her Jesus on Sunday, July 8, 2012.

Julia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother (Gran) who loved her Saviour and her church. She doted on her kids and grandkids, loved spending time with her family, and cherished working with the students at Burlington Elementary.

Julia was born at St. Mary’s in Huntington, W.Va., the daughter of the late Carl Wesley and Sarah (Crum) Ward. She was preceded in passing by her husband of fifty one years, Billy Raymond Butcher. She is survived by her daughter Lisa (Thomas) Cantrell and son Billy (Tonya) Butcher of Evansville, Ind., six grandchildren; Brian Douglas, Joshua, Alaina, and Ava Cantrell, Rian (Jessica) and Billy Butcher; a loving brother Carl Danny (Patty) Ward and her best friend and sister-in-law Linda (Dave) Lester and a host of family and friends.

Family and Friends may call from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Apostolic Life Cathedral. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.

A memorial will be at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at Apostolic Life Cathedral, 350 Staunton St., Huntington, WV 25702. Pastor E.S. Harper is officiating.

 

William “Red” Rust

William “Red” Rust, 73, of Hilliard, died July 8, 2012. He was born Nov. 11, 1938, in Ironton to John and Virginia Rust.

He retired from Greyhound Bus Lines and Hilliard City Schools. He was a beloved member of Hayden Baptist Church, where he was known as the “church cheerleader.” He was welcomed to his heavenly home by his daughter, Lisa Michelle Rust, parents, brother Ronald Rust, sister Denise Collins and many relatives and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Frances; son Mike (Theresa) Rust; granddaughters Katie (Mike) Erickson and Alison Rust and friend Mike Bryan; great-grandson Owen Erickson; great-granddaughter Aubrey Rose Erickson; sisters Johnda Wells of Huntington, and Nancy (Roger) Fannin of Bethel, Ohio; brother Richard Rust of Ironton; brother-in-laws Jim Gibson of Dayton, Bob Gibson of Ironton and Roger Collins of Ironton; sister-in-law Ruth Rust of Ironton, Ohio, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Family will receive friends 4-8 pm Wednesday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026. A funeral service will be held 1 pm Thursday at Hayden Baptist Church 6729 Hayden Run Rd., Hilliard, OH 43026 with Pastor Bill Webb officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hayden Baptist Church Building Fund. Interment Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Earl D. Lawless, 55, of Ironton, died Monday, July 9, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center’s Ironton campus. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.

 

Michael Petty

Michael Petty, 29, of Ironton, passed away Friday, July 9, 2012, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky., with his family at his side.

The family has entrusted his care to Brown Funeral Chapel.
