Kenneth Kavanagh

Kenneth Kavanagh, 73, of Huntington, W.Va., died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Huntington Health and Rehab.  Kenneth was born Dec. 16, 1938, in Cedarville, a son of the late Charles Kavanagh and Florence Lynch Kavanagh O’Bryant.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Kavanagh and a sister, Phyllis Rolph.

Kenny was the owner of Advertising Art Sign Company, which allowed him to use his love of art as an artist.  He was a member of the Mensa Society and served as board member of CASA of the WV Heartland. He was a graduate of Marshall University and attended Duke University and served his country with the U.S. Army and also the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  Additionally, he was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Huntington.

Kenneth is survived by a sister, Patricia Gambrell of Clinton, Tenn., and by several nieces and nephews.  A special thank you is extended to the staff of the Huntington Regional  VA Hospital and Huntington Health and Rehab.

George Robert Wileman

Bob was born in Ironton, on June 1, 1938 and died on July 3, 2012. He was a member of the National Honor Society in high school. He attended Duke University and Georgetown Law School, where he was on the Law Review. Bob was a member of the Ohio and Texas Bars. He started his law career at O’Melveny & Myers and later became an attorney specializing in medical malpractice, until his retirement in 2004.

He played a lot of golf when he was young and more recently enjoyed poker, bridge and keeping in touch with friends and family.  One of his fondest memories was in California when he hosted a dinner for Bob Hope and professional golf champion Billy Casper.  He also worked on the Glen Campbell Open with the Los Angeles JayCees.

He joined AA on Jan. 1, 1975, and remained sober until his death.

Bob was born to George and “Bobbie” Wileman, who preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by “Ricky” Wileman, his brother.  He is survived by John, his son; Julie his daughter; and Jackie, Ian, Alec, and Masayoshi, his grandchildren.

Helen DuFore

Helen Joyce DuFore, 80, of Ironton, passed Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, Ky. The Ironton native was born March 26, 1932, the daughter of the late Albert Bodmer and Nola Saunders Bodmer. Mrs. DuFore was a graduate of Ironton High School and member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

In 1992 she retired after 42 years as a secretary for Ashland Oil. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Erma Bodmer; and three brothers, Ralph, Don and Fred Bodmer. She is survived by son and daughter in law, Neil and Claris DuFore of Ironton; granddaughter and her husband, Michelle and Mark Stamper of Ironton; grandson and his wife, Derek and Melissa DuFore of Ironton; three great grandchildren, Craig Stamper, Courtney Stamper, and Ava DuFore; brother, Lowell Bodmer of Ironton; sister, Jean Saylor of Ironton; and two sisters-in-law, Joyce Bodmer and Mary Bodmer both of Ironton.

Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Theodore York
