Bloom groups seeks Yard of the Month choices

April is just around the corner, so it’s time to remind all Irontonians to start taking note of their neighbors’ landscaping.

Ironton In Bloom will again be accepting nominations for a monthly yard award from April through September this year.

Residents are also welcome to nominate their own yards.

Since there is much competition, feel free to enter your favorite yard more than one month.

The five judges are ready to start making their slow trips around town to view each nominated yard.

After they have viewed all yards entered, they will meet monthly to vote on the one they agree is most attractive.

Judges are looking for yards that are well maintained and have eye-catching blooms, trees, and/or shrubbery that combine to create outstanding curb appeal.

Winners have varied from those with elaborate displays to small homes with just an outstandingly attractive pot on their porch or stoop.

Winning yards will be designated by having the Ironton In Bloom Award sign placed on the lawn and the homeowner’s photograph published in The Tribune and the Herald Dispatch.

To enter, please email the address of your nominee to Viviane@ledcorp.org or ccaskey@ilcao.org; or mail your entry to Ironton In Bloom Inc., P.O. Box 4599, Ironton. All entries must be postmarked no later than April 12.

We hope this project will serve as an extra incentive to all of us to get outside, visit with our neighbors, and to BE a good neighbor by making your home an asset to your particular block, your neighborhood, your town.
