Crash sends two to hospital

A two vehicle accident at the intersection of South Ninth and Pine streets Monday afternoon sent two people to the hospital.

Ironton Police Capt. Dan Johnson said a Dodge Caravan, driven by Denise Pringle, 45, of Ironton, was coming across Ninth Street on to Pine Street when it collided with a Ford Taurus, driven by Kristina Darnell, 28, of Ironton. Darnell's car was southbound on Ninth Street at the time of the accident.

The front of Darnell's car apparently connected with the rear quarter panel of Pringle's car, causing the van to spin, and roll over, landing on its top.

Ironton Firefighters assisted paramedics with the Southeast Ohio Emergency Medical Services in freeing Pringle and a passenger, David Mayfield, 50, of Charleston, W.Va., from their vehicle.

Mayfield and Pringle were taken to Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital for treatment. Darnell was not injured. Teresa Moore/The Ironton Tribune
