KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Raul Ibanez knows why he's driving in all these runs: peer pressure.

He knocked in seven runs to tie a Kansas City record Sunday, then came back Monday night and drove in six more as the Royals swept a doubleheader from the Texas Rangers.

''All those guys in front of me are having great at-bats,'' Ibanez said. ''I see all those guys putting on great at-bats, and I don't want to be the one not have a good at-bat. I'm just looking to do my best.''

Ibanez hit a bases-loaded triple in the first inning of the Royals' 8-6 win in the opener, giving him a team-record 10 RBIs in two games.

In the nightcap, he singled in a run in the first and broke a 4-all tie with a two-run double in the seventh inning of a 6-4 win.

The 13 RBIs in three games is a Royals record.

Carlos Beltran, Joe Randa and Luis Alicea gave Ibanez, batting fifth both games, plenty of opportunity to set the records.

Beltran had four hits and four runs scored, Randa went 2-for-5 with a two-run triple and two runs, and Alicea had four singles and scored three times in the second game.

Shawn Sedlacek earned his first big league win in the opener. After no-decisions in his first four starts -- three he left with the lead -- Sedlacek (1-0) gave up three runs and four hits in six innings before watching the bullpen almost give it away again.

The Rangers scored three times, two on Herbert Perry's homer off Dan Reichert, but Roberto Hernandez got the final out for his 15th save.

''I was pretty confident,'' Sedlacek said. ''It's a good feeling to get my first win.''

Another Royals rookie, Runnelvys Hernandez, making his big league debut in the second game, left with a 4-2 lead after five innings. He did not get the win when Kris Wilson (1-0) gave up home runs to Kevin Mench in the sixth and Rafael Palmeiro in the seventh to tie it 4-4.

Tigers 4, Red Sox 3, 11 innings

Brandon Inge's infield single in the 11th inning lifted Detroit over visiting Boston. The Red Sox tied a season high with their fourth straight loss.

Inge had his first career four-RBI game. He broke an 0-for-15 slump by hitting a two-run homer in the seventh, and tied it at 3 with a sacrifice fly.

Oscar Henriquez (1-0) pitched the 11th for his first major league win.

Blue Jays 8, Yankees 5

Chris Woodward homered and host Toronto held on for its fourth straight win.

Yankees starter Orlando Hernandez (5-3) was ejected in the seventh inning after hitting Carlos Delgado with a pitch. Yankees manager Joe Torre also was tossed.

Toronto starter Steve Parris (2-2) hit Jason Giambi and Chris Widger early in the game.

Orioles 6, Mariners 5

Mike Bordick hit a three-run homer as host Baltimore rallied from four runs down to defeat Seattle.

Bordick had three hits and lifted his average nine points to .242 while extending his run of errorless games to 73.

Mark McLemore and Edgar Martinez homered for the Mariners, who led 4-0 in the third inning before Ryan Franklin (4-2) gave it away.

Indians 7, White Sox 1

Jason Phillips allowed seven hits in 7 2-3 innings and recorded his first major league victory to lead the Indians.

Making just his second big league start and first at Jacobs Field, Phillips (1-1) walked three, struck out two and got 14 outs on grounders.

Twins 10, Angels 8

In Minneapolis, Cristian Guzman's three-run homer in the eighth inning capped Minnesota's comebabck from a six-run deficit.

Torii Hunter hit a two-run homer in the seventh against Scott Schoeneweis (7-7) to bring the Twins within a run.

Athletics 4, Devil Rays 0

In St. Petersburg, Fla., Ted Lilly did not allow a hit for 4 2-3 innings in his Oakland debut as the Athletics beat Tampa Bay.

Lilly (4-6), who pitched a one-hitter and a three-hitter this season for the Yankees, didn't allow a hit until John Flaherty singled to left with two outs in the fifth.

In six-plus innings, Lilly allowed three hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Chad Bradford, Mike Venafro and Billy Koch finished up the four-hitter. The Associated Press
