Ironton-Lawrence County Memorial Day Parade Committee member James Adkins said earlier this week that he has obtained permission to use the U.S. National Guard Armory’s chairs for this occasion, and for the Navy Night service.

In years previous, those who attended had to either bring their own chairs or stand throughout the service.

"We thought about moving the service over to Patriot’s Path," Adkins said. "But we realized we would have nowhere to hang the wreaths that are part of the service."

So, the Cemetery Service will remain at the grave sites.

Veterans of Foreign Wars State Commander Greg Vila will be the guest speaker, and the Lawrence County Ecumenical Choir will provide musical selections.

The Navy Night service includes a performance by the Ecumenical Choir and the Dawson-Bryant High School band. Former Navy Lt. James Bradshaw will be the guest speaker.
