According to chief deputy Gary Akers, a three-foot crevice opened under the home as torrential downpours blanketed the area.

The home, located on County Road 115, had slipped several inches on its left side, hanging precariously on the ledge on which it rested.

The homeowners, whose names were unavailable at presstime, were searching for a rental trailer to transport their belongings.

Crews remained on the scene as of presstime.
