So much for the showdown.

The Ironton Junior Fighting Tigers 8th grade won the battle for first place in the Ohio-Kentucky Valley Conference with a 58-35 rout of Ashland.

Ironton (13-0) was led by Brigham Waginger with 19 points. Dennis Gagai scored 12, Brandon Walker 10, and Darius Lewis nine points.

The league tournament drawing will be held Sunday. The tournament begins Tuesday.
