Top-seeded Chesapeake won as expected, but the Coal Grove Junior Hornets upset the Rock Hill Junior Redmen 42-33 in the semifinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Middle School Tournament.

The Junior Panthers beat the South Point Junior Pointers 55-47 as Jeff Thornburg and Zach Morrison scored 16 points each. Mike Stapleton added 11 points.

Cory Morford had 12 points and J. T. Terry 10 to pace the Pointers.

In the second game, Coal Grove won as Chris Chaffin had 13 points and Randy Wise 10. J. C. Christian scored 15 points for Rock Hill.

Thursday at approximately 6:45 p.m.

The 7th grade semifinals will be Tuesday at Chesapeake Middle School. Coal Grove plays South Point at 5:30 p.m. followed by Chesapeake and Rock Hill.
