Five Ironton players were named to the Associated Press Division IV All-Ohio team Tuesday led by seniors Chad Parker and Roman Fry.

Parker, a 6-foot, 220-pound linebacker, was named to the first team defense while the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Fry was a second team selection on the offensive line.

Bob Lutz, who won his 300th career game earlier this season, was named Coach of the Year as he led Ironton to a 10-0 regular season and the AP Division IV poll championship.

Parker was the Southeast district Defensive Player of the Year. Fry was a first team selection and was considered for the top offensive honors along with Portsmouth’s Jo Jo Parker and Wellston’s Brad Young.

Ironton’s other All-Ohio selections were senior defensive back Hugh Scott, senior nose guard Tyler Scior, and senior placekicker/ defensive end/ center Tommy Lutz. All three were first team all-district and special mention All-Ohio.

Lutz is now 303-63-5 in his career that spans 33 seasons including a 293-55-4 record in 30 seasons at Ironton. He spent his first three years at Ironton St. Joe and posted a 20-8-1 record with two Ohio Valley Conference championships and a runner-up spot.

The award is the second for Lutz who also was named the state’s top coach in 1993.

South Point landed two players on the All-0hio team as senior running back Shane Holsinger and senior defensive lineman Bryan Maggard were named special mention. Both were first team all-district.

Fairland senior defensive end Darin Thomas, a first team all-district pick, was named All-Ohio special mention.
