Inspectors check the structure of the Ironton-Russell Bridge on Tuesday. Motorists may face lane restrictions on the bridge this week as the Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 continues its testing of the bridge and its structural pins. According to Greg Baird, bridge and traffic studies engineer for ODOT District 9, this is a continuation of a series of tests. The inspection is also part of the department’s preparation for a retrofit and reinforcement project that is scheduled to take place on the bridge this fall. Weather permitting, the inspection will continue through Friday. Traffic will be maintained with the aid of flaggers as needed, and the bridge is scheduled to be open to two lanes of traffic for night and weekend travel.
