PROCTORVILLE – A team title and lots of individuals. The Chesapeake Lady Panthers erased a 20-year drought by winning the Division III district track championship Friday, and several track athletes from Chesapeake and Coal Grove advanced to the regional meet.

The top four qualifiers advance to the regionals at Lancaster Wednesday and Friday.

The Lady Panthers had 113 points to edge Lucasville Valley which had 106. Eastern Sardinia had 94, Coal Grove 66, Manchester 46, Reedsville Eastern 45, Beaver Eastern 44, Oak Hill 35, Portsmouth Notre Dame 29, South Webster 28, and Green 6.

New Boston, Portsmouth East, South Gallia, and Racine Southern failed to score.

In the boys meet, South Webster topped Coal Grove for the second straight year, 144.5 points to 127.

Valley had 103, Manchester 73.5, Oak Hill 45, Portsmouth Notre Dame 22, Portsmouth East 21, Eastern Sardinia 20, South Gallia 16, Reedsville Eastern 10, and Green 4.

New Boston and Racine Southern failed to score.

The Lady Panthers 4×200 relay team was first at 1:56.3 and the 4×100 team ran a 52.7 to place first.

Chesapeake had three individual winners, all in field events.

Laura King took the discus with a throw of 108-6, Michelle Christian cleared 5-foot in the high jump, and Brittney Pollock leaped 15-1 1/2 in the long jump.

Lisa Perry was second (13-.8) and Brittney Pollock third (14.3) in the 100 meter dash. Ashley Bragg was fourth in the 100 hurdles (18.4).

Perry also took second in the 200 meter dash with a 28.1 clocking.

Coal Grove’s girls had a first place finish with Mary Wineka who ran a 50.2 in the 300 hurdles. She also placed fourth in the 200 meter dash.

Jennifer Christian was second at 2:34.8 in the 800, Tara Jackson took second in the discus at 95-feet and third in the shot put at 30-8 1/2.

The Lady Hornets were second in the 4×200, third in the 4×400, and fourth in the 4×800 relays.

In the boys meet, the Hornets had a 1-2 finish in the shot put and the discus. Ricky Wynn won the shot put at 48-11 and the discus with a 134-8 toss while Dan Cordle threw 46-0 3/4 in the shot and 120-4 in the discus to take second.

Dennis Wilson won the high jump with a leap of 6-2, was first in the pole vault with a 10-foot vault, and took second in the long jump at 18-8 1/2. Aaron Fields cleared 9-0 in the pole vault to take second.

Shaun Smith finished second in the 300 hurdles with a 42.7 clocking, Darius Porters was fourth in the 110 hurdles at 20.1 seconds, and Zach Dingus finished fourth in the 1600 run with a 5:12.6 time.
