COAL GROVE – The Coal Grove Lady Hornets doubled their fun.

The Lady Hornets won both games of a doubleheader over the South Gallia Lady Rebels Saturday, winning 8-0 and 11-10.

Ashley Dickess pitched a shutout in the opener as she allowed just one hit in the five-inning game. She struck out four and did not walk a batter.

Coal Grove had 10 hits with Dickess going 3-for-3, Jennifer Johnston 2-for-2, Stacy Easterling 2-for-3, Sarah Patterson and Cassie Ball 1-for-2, and Tara Jackson 1-for-3.

Easterling had a double, the Hornets only extra base hit.

The Lady Hornets scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to win the nightcap.

With one out, Jackson started the rally with a triple and scored on a base hit by Patterson.

A ground out sent Patterson to third base and she scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

Coal Grove outhit the Rebels 13-to-10.

Patterson and Johnston were 3-for-3, Jackson was 3-for-4 with two triples, Dickess 1-for-1, Tiffany Grove 1-for-2, and Amber Harmon and Easterling each 1-for-3.

Dickess, the third Coal Grove pitcher, got credit for the win.
