Allison Perdue tripled and, after Whitney Morrison walked, scored when Sarah Baise hit the ball deep in the hole at shortstop and beat the throw to the plate to give South Point the winning run in the ninth inning.

"We don’t like to win easy," Lady Pointers coach Jan Keatley said.

In the fourth, Baise and Tara Layne singled, Nikki Layne flied out as the runners moved up, and Sarah Stevens had a run-scoring single.

The lead went to 2-0 in the fifth when Perdue, Morrison, and Baise all singled.

Chesapeake got both runs with two outs

Jessica Rice singled, Kristen Huff walked, both moved up on a passed ball, and two throwing errors allowed the runs to score.

Tara Layne pitched the full nine innings and allowed just four hits to get the win. South Point is now 11-1 overall and 5-0 in the OVC.

Perdue went 3-for-5 and Baise 2-for-5 with two runs batted in. Whitney Morrison was 2-for-4.

South Point plays at Fairland Wednesday in a battle first place in the OVC.
