ALBANY – The end brought the end. The play of the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings at the end of the game brought the end of their season in a 48-37 loss to South Gallia Lady Rebel Wednesday in the Division IV sectional tournament.

"We just made some defensive mistakes at the end," Vikings coach Rob Bess said.

Those mistakes enabled South Gallia to outscore the Lady Vikings 16-10 the final quarter and 30-18 the second half, thus wiping out Symmes Valley’s halftime lead.

South Gallia took a 14-7 first quarter lead. Keren Bell had all seven of Symmes Valley’s points.

Dusty Martin got six points the third quarter as the Lady Vikings rallied to take a 19-18 halftime lead.

Anna Bodmer had five of her points the third quarter, but South Gallia was able to take 32-27 lead after three quafters when White scored eight points.

White had eight more points the fourth quarter as the Rebels added to their lead.

White got eight in the third and eight in the fourth.

Despite the season-ending loss, Bess was upbeat.

‘We’re a young team and now we just need to work and get everyone together," said Bess.
