Robert Bayer

Robert E. “Yogi” Bayer, 80, of South Point, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, in Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Minister Mark Aites officiating.

Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, with military honors. Robert was born April 6, 1932, in Columbus, a son of the late Carl and Cleo Hunter Bayer.

He was a retired engineer with C&O Railroad and a member of South Point Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Lynn Bayer; one grandson, Theodore “Teddy” Bayer; and four siblings, Vernon “Buster” Bayer, Margaret Kilbarger, Paul Bayer, and Cliff “Morris” Bayer.

Robert is survived by his wife, Nellie Hall Bayer; four children, Tina (Chuck) Marcum, Robert E. Bayer, Jr., Sonya (Todd) Peters, and Annette Bayer; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; and three siblings, Norma Lumbert, Jim Bayer and Mary Lapointe. Walter Stamper

Walter Ray Stamper Sr., 60, of Wheelersburg, went to be with the Lord Oct. 4, 2012. He was the son of the late Robert and Eliza Stamper of Pedro.

He was a 1970 graduate of Rock Hill High School and was married to the former Janice Hays, who survives. He attended Garden City Freewill Baptist Church in Wheelersburg. He was employed at Southern Ohio Correctional Facility.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Walter (Billy) Stamper Jr.; and a brother, Robert Stamper Jr.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Melissa Snyder and husband Barry; three grandchildren, Aidan and Adriana Snyder, and Bailey Kaulitz; three brothers, Stanley Stamper of Flatwoods, Ky., George Stamper of Pedro, and James Stamper of Franklin Furnace; seven sisters, Bernice Stephenson of Cincinnati, Edith Norris of Oak Hill, Geraldine Tate of Zanesville, Loretta Martin of Wurtland, Ky., Alfreda Tackett of Denton, Ky., Beverly Stapleton of Ironton, and Katherine Noel of Kitts Hill.

Brant Funeral Home, Sciotoville, is in charge of arrangements. The visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

 

Eugene Wallin

Eugene Wallin, 86, of Ironton, passed away Thursday October 4, 2012 at Wurtland Nursing and Rehab Center in Wurtland, Ky. The Catlettsburg, Ky. native was born Oct. 16, 1925, the son of the late Coy and Nettie Robinette Wallin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Renate Dalgas Wallin.Mr. Wallin attended school in Catlettsburg and was a former electrician for the Dayton Malleable Iron Company, retiring in 1984.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Don Wallin and Hershel Wallin and a sister, Volletta Bryant. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Michele and Greg Brandt of Atlanta, Ga. and Andrea and Kevin Kitts of Wurtland; a brother, Bill Wallin of Ashland, Ky.; two grandchildren, Jessica Elgin and Greg Snyder both of Atlanta; and a great grandchild, Zoe Elgin. Funeral service will be noon Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. James Cremeans officiating.

Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 8850. The visitation will be 11 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

Leonard Hamilton

Leonard “Fish” Earl Hamilton, 63, of Worthington, Ky., died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Community Hospice Care Center. Funeral services will be at the Wurtland Church of God, 3394 State Route 503  Wurtland, on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Henry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup County with military honors by the American Legion Post 93 of Kenova, W.Va. Kathy Jo Lawless

Kathy Jo Lawless, 57, of Ironton passed Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at the Cleveland Clinic. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 20, 1955, the daughter of the late Oscar and Bette White Heaberlin.

Kathy was a 1973 graduate of Ironton High School and a member of Sharon Baptist Church. She was the office manager for Jo-Lin Health Center for many years. Kathy was like a second mother to her nieces and nephews, loved being outdoors and singing gospel music with her sister.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl “Doug” Lawless on July 9, 2012.

She is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Jolinda Heaberlin of Ironton; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Wade Dyer of Wheelersburg; sister and brother-in-law, Paulette and Robert Payne of Grove City; brother and sister-in-law, Kerry and Kathy Heaberlin of Pedro;

nieces and nephews, Melissa Garris of Ironton, James and Jodi Dyer of Ironton, Ricky Heaberlin of Ironton, Tracy and Hershel Vaughn of Ironton, Dusty and Brenna Heaberlin of Kitts Hill, Kelli and Jason Ford of Ironton, and Tony and Margaret Payne of Pomeroy. She is also survived by 14 great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Rev. Butch Deer Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers for the service will be Dusty Heaberlin, Rex Lawless, Tony Payne, Chad Garris, Ricky and Nick Heaberlin, Jim and Josh Dyer. Wilma Hamilton

Wilma Wyone Hamilton, 75, of Marion, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Marion General Hospital. Wilma was born Aug. 31, 1937, to the late Amos and Jaunita (Kelley) Matney in Ironton. On Aug. 16, 1969, she married Earl D. Hamilton who preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2003. Wilma worked for Wilson Shoe Store, was a member at The Church of the Brethren, enjoyed gardening and quilting.

Wilma is survived by her daughter, Terri Lynn Hamilton, of Marion; grandchildren, Malachi and Sarah Houk; sisters, Rose (Ray) Williams, of Marion, Linda Sloas, of Michigan, Brenda Johnson and Mark, of Florida, Doris K. Johnson of Marion; a brother Keith Johnson of Florida and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Wilma was preceded in death by brothers, infant William and Amos “Buddy” Matney.

Friends may call Monday at Gunder/Hall& Folk Funeral Directors from 5 until 8 p.m. A graveside service will be observed Tuesday at Marion Cemetery, new part. Connie Blair

Connie Sue Ramey-Blair, 63 of South Point, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky., is in charge of final arrangements. Dean Runyon

Dean Allen Runyon, 90, of Chesapeake, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, in Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington.  Arrangements are pending at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake.

Peachie Mae Adams-Salyers, 92, of Argillite, Ky., died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Carman Funeral Home, Flatwoods, Ky.
