The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings struggled through a very cold shooting performance Monday as they lost 55-37 to the Portsmouth Clay Lady Panthers Monday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

Symmes Valley connected on just 16-of-71 floor shots for 22.5 percent.

"We just didn’t hit our shots. All but maybe four shots were there," Vikings coach Rob Bess said. "It was could outside and cold inside for us."

Keren Bell had 18 points to lead the Lady Vikings. Melissa Thompson had eight rebounds. and Dusty Martin three assists.

Clay was up 13-8 after the first quarter, but the Lady Vikings managed just four points the second quarter and trailed 27-12 at the half.

Bell scored 12 points the second half, but Clay managed to outscore the Lady Vikings 28-25 to hold on for the win.

The Lady Vikings hosts Coal Grove Thursday.
