PIKETON — As part of an ongoing series of equipment moves from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Portsmouth site at Piketon, U.S. 23 North in Pike County will be restricted again for two days next week.

The northbound lanes of U.S. 23 and off-ramp at the DOE exit, just south of Piketon, will be closed intermittently on Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. while crews from Edwards Moving and Rigging transport condensers to the entrance of Columbus Equipment, which is just south of the interchange.

Subsequent moves are also scheduled to take place on Friday; Wednesday, Oct. 31; and Thursday, Nov. 8. All moves are to be conducted between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day, and U.S. 23 northbound motorists should expect delays of 10 to 15 minutes between these hours.

As each move will be conducted in a rolling operation and periods of closure are intermittent, there will be no posted detour. However, officers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be assisting with traffic control.
