For more than 75 years, students at St. Joseph High School have learned reading, writing and arithmetic, with a little faith thrown in.

This past weekend, students, alumni and friends of the school gathered to remember the good old days and to rededicate their alma mater.

They understand just how special their school is – and what an achievement a 75th anniversary really is.

Ironton is lucky to have not only a fine set of public schools, but a parochial system that produces top quality students – and young adults.

The two schools have been "friends" for years, offering a choice for parents and a chance to share the best of both worlds for the students.

The cooperation between the district and the parochial system has made for many opportunities that might not have been possible without that support.

And St. Joseph’s staff, students and parents have been an active part of this community for all of those 75 years.

Saturday’s celebration merits a congratulations to the many people who have worked so hard over the years to make St. Joseph such a vital, interesting and productive place.

And a thank you for the contributions its alumni, staff and parents have made to making their school and community a better place to be.
