Highlands to host holiday homes tour

ASHLAND, Ky. — The Ladies of the Highlands Christmas Tour of Homes will be Saturday and Sunday starting at the Bellefonte Presbyterian Church, 605 Bellefonte Princess Road,  Ashland, Ky.

Tour times will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Cookies and coffee will be offered at the church and tour participants will be picked up there by bus and taken to the following homes:

• Dr. Roland and Becky Benton, 413 Country Club Drive;

• Dave and Dr. Mary Legenza, 502 Amanda Furnace Circle;

• Kevin and Mary Jo Halter, 207 Princess Drive;

• Dr. Stacy Caudill, 310 Buena Vista Drive;

• Ed and Cindy Neely, 3 Kenton Furnace;

• Mike Riffle and John Welsheimer, 117 Stoneybrooke Drive

There will also be a stop at the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the event, and may be purchased at the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center.

 

EFSP taking applications for funding

The Emergency Food and Shelter National Board has allotted $22,902 in Phase 30 funds for the local EFSP board in Lawrence County to disburse to local organizations.

Any non-profit organization or local government agency currently providing or capable of providing food or shelter services may apply for the funds. Interested agencies must have the capability of fulfilling all regulations and requirements set forth by the national EFSP board.

Each applicant must have a single agency audit done annually plus maintain proper documentation on all program expenditures and client served.

Make a holiday wreath at BCPL

ASHLAND, KY. — Boyd County Public Library is hosting wreath-making classes for adults at the Main and Kyova branches in early December.

Boyd County Horticulture Agent Lori Bowling will teach the courses on Friday, Dec. 7, at noon at the Main Branch, 1740 Central Ave., Ashland; and on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Kyova Branch, located in the Kyova Mall, across from Elder-Beerman.

The library will provide all the supplies. Registration is required, and can be done at www.thebookplace.org, or by calling Amanda Clark at (606) 329-0518, ext. 1140.

Participation is limited to 15 at each location.
