Jack Rowe

Jack Edward Rowe, 81, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012. The Ironton native was born Feb. 20, 1931, a son of the late William and Agnes Lipker Rowe.

He was a graduate of Ironton High School. Jack retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant with 24 years service. He was an air traffic controller serving during the Korean Conflict and with active duty in Vietnam. Other assignments include Alaska, Morocco, Thailand and several sites in the European Theater.

He is survived by his wife, Clara McGuire Rowe; son and daughter-in-law, Jack Jr. and Paula Rowe of Carlyle, Ill.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Jeffery Keating of Ironton and Janet and Gary Underhill of Chesterfield, Va.; four granddaughters, Julie (Keith) Pavlick of London, England, Valerie (J.T.) Jenkins of Cincinnati, Teresa Keating of Ironton, and Meghan Underhill of Chesterfield, Va., two grandsons, Alex and Garrett Underhill of Chesterfield, Va.; and a great-granddaughter, Gabriela Pavlick of London, England.

He is also survived by four brothers, William Rowe of Ironton, Jerry (Jo) Rowe of Ironton, Thomas (Bonnie) Rowe of Springfield, and Ronald (Nancy) Rowe of New Carlisle; and two sisters, Sally Hargis of New Carlisle and Helen Angle of Ironton.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Robert, James and Charles Rowe; and one sister, Johanna Rowe.

Funeral services will be noon Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by the honor guard from Wright-Patterson AFB. Wanda Moore-Copley

Wanda J. Moore-Copley, 85, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods officiated by Pastor Johnsey Collins. Mildred Thompson

Mildred Thompson, 75, of Ironton, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, in the Hospice Community Care Center, Ashland, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton.

 

Ada Eertmoed

Ada Louise Sesher Eertmoed, 87, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at a local health care center. The Ironton native was born Sept. 23, 1925, the daughter of the late James Richard and Elsie Grubb Sesher.

Ms. Eertmoed was a graduate of Ironton High School and attended one year of business school. She was a former secretary/account executive for Gallagher/Bassett Insurance Service in Chicago, Ill., for eight years and the General Adjustment Bureau for 12 years. She attended First Baptist Church in Ashland, Ky., and was a member of the Professional Womens Group in Chicago, the Historical Society in Green Springs, Ohio and Andrew’s Buddies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Edith Sesher Eertmoed and Elsie Faye Sesher Wilson; and three brothers, Lee Richard Sesher, James Bernard Sesher and Ray William Sesher.

She is survived by a niece, Winnette Klopfenstein of Pekin, Ill.; several other nieces and nephews; and a caregiver, Janie Fraley of Ironton

Jimmy Buchanan

Jimmy Lee Buchanan, 68, of Proctorville, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Buchanan. Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

 

Genevieve Schirmer

Genevieve Schirmer, 92, of Franklin Furnace, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Fountainhead Nursing Home in Franklin Furnace. Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

 

Jerry Sexton

A memorial service for Jerry Sexton, 59, of Chesapeake, will be 5 p.m. Monday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with elders of New Covenant Church and Brian Sexton officiating.
