HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — It may be business as usual every other Friday at Hayflich, but business looks a little different. On those days, the accounting professionals at the firm donate cash in exchange for the right to trade their business suits for jeans with the Hoops Family Children’s Hospital at Cabell Huntington Hospital in mind.

This fundraising effort is the brainchild of members and staff at Hayflich. The firm’s employees had celebrated a “Cash for Comfort” day, but determined their cash needed to support a worthy cause such as the Hoops Family Children’s Hospital at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Their first donation was made recently and totaled more than $1,400.

“All of us here at Hayflich have a strong commitment to our community and the individuals who lead organizations toward advancements for the future,” said Aaron Heighton, member at Hayflich. “We see the addition of the [Hoops Family] Children’s Hospital as one of those advancements. Everyone can relate to children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews, and being able to support a project such as the Children’s Hospital is something that touches everyone here. It is so good to know that if this level of care is ever needed for a loved one, it is right here in Huntington. Congratulations to everyone involved for seeing this from the idea stage to where we are today.”

Construction is nearing completion on the new entrance to the Hoops Family Children’s Hospital at Cabell Huntington Hospital and work will soon begin on the reconstruction of the hospital’s fifth-floor Pediatric Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

“The efforts of these employees at Hayflich exemplify the community fundraising efforts that have helped us get where we are with this project,” said Velma Workman, development outreach coordinator for the Cabell Huntington Hospital Foundation. “These gifts are gifts from the heart of our community. They come from employees who are creative in finding ways to support the Hoops Family Children’s Hospital and we are grateful for their generosity.”
