George Markins

 

George L. “Bud” Markins, 54, of Ironton, passed Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Ironton. The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 26, 1958, the son of the late George W. Markins and Martha Mullins Markins.

Bud had lived all of his life in the Lawrence County area. He attended Dawson-Bryant Schools in Coal Grove and Mamre Baptist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Rose Marie Keating Simpson of Ironton; two grandchildren, Zoe Marie Cooper and Marianne Cooper both of Ironton; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Larry Williams of Ironton; sister and brother-in-law, Goldie and James Pierson of Ironton; sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and John Williams of Ironton; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Russell Sexton of Coal Grove; sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Burl Bunker of Pedro; brother, Roger Markins of Ironton; sister and brother- in-law, Debra and Larry Jenkins of Ironton; brother, Larry Markins of Ironton; sister and brother-in-law, Matilda and Rex Kerns of Portsmouth; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Angie Markins of Pedro; sister and brother-in-law, Amie and Steve Abston of Lebanon; sister and her fiancé, Christina Markins and Josh of Coal Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold Hall

Jesse Carter

Jesse “Edward” Carter, 91, of Flatwoods Ky., died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Carman Funeral Home-Flatwoods with Pastor Ken Gowin and Roger Caleb officiating. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens-Flatwoods.
