Jerry Moore

 

Jerry Mitchell Moore Sr. passed peacefully from this life into the arms of the Lord surrounded by his loving family at King’s Daughters Medical Center on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013.

He was the son of the late Harlan and Anne Thacker Moore. He was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Bates and brothers-in-law Curt Bates, Harold Bryant, Dave Smith and Early Myatt.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois Bryant Moore; and two sons who faithfully stayed by his side until the end, Mitch and Tom/Alvina Moore; two granddaughters, Shelly/David Marcum and Erica Moore; two grandsons, Aaron and Brandon Moore; and five great-grandchildren, Davin, Lakin and Ragin Marcum, Skylar Moore and Riley Roberts. He is also survived by three sisters, Barbara Bryant, Harleen Myatt and Beverly Smith; seven nephews, Scott/Leah Bryant, Brian/Celeste Bates, Jetson Bates, Lee/Vicki Malone, Sam/Maridelle Malone and Mike Miller; two nieces, Melinda/John Hampton and Ronda Burton; and many special great nieces and nephews.

Jerry graduated from Dawson-Bryant High School in 1951 and attended Ashland Junior College. He worked as a maintenance supervisor at Ironton General Hospital and later as a machine builder for National Mines in Ashland, Ky. Jerry was a clever, kind man who never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by us all.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home. Sam Malone will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Community Cemetery Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Mitch Moore, Tom Moore, Aaron Moore, Brandon Moore, David Marcum, Sam Malone, Michael Moore Miller and Shane Bryant. Betty Kelley

May 30, 1923-Jan. 27, 2013

 

Betty Kelley, 89, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by family on Sunday Jan. 27, 2013. The Portsmouth native was born May 30, 1923, a daughter of the late Lott and Charlotte Buckley Ladd. Betty was also preceded in death by her husband June C. Kelley.

Betty was retired from JC Penney. She was a member of West Hill Church of Christ.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Linda Harbolt of Ironton and Carol Maier of Columbus; four grandchildren, Bill and Kenny Harbolt, both of Ironton, and Larry (Angel) Maier of Columbus, Teresa (Ken) Marquis of Columbus; three great-grandchildren, Carmen (Andrew) Glass of Fort Hood, Texas, Jacob and Aaron Maier of Columbus, Marisa and Blake Marquis of Columbus; and one great-great-grandchildren, Colton Glass of Fort Hood, Texas.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home in Ironton with Pastor Phil Lemaster officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Friends may also call 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Egan-Ryan Funeral Home Northwest Chapel 4661 Kenny Rd., Columbus, OH.

Cassandra Summers

Cassandra Lynn Summers, 24, of Milton, W.Va., died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. A memorial service will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Church in the Valley. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.

 

 

Mary Mounts

Mary Nora Mounts, 79, of Huntington, W.Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. There will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.
